Would you believe it. Strolling back from doing a bit of work on our tree plantation, I noticed a number of red dots in the scrubby area that is the top of one of our fields. It turns out to be stacks of cherry tomato plants with beautiful little branches loaded with ripe, juicy fruit. They have grown, it turns out, from a load of soil that was taken up there from last years compost heap. We had never got around to picking them all last year from the compost heap where they had already self seeded so here they go again in a new spot which they evidently love, no watering, fertilising or chemicals required for this lot of lovelies.
